A4 pen and white acrylic on tracing paper over a tea stained poem.
I wrote the poem myself to match my personal investigation theme in art at the moment (Mask). I don’t normally write poems, but I decided to give it a go because I didn’t want to use someone else’s. Personally I think it turned out ok, considering how I haven’t written a poem since year 10 English class!
Poem reads:
I came across a mask today,
So bright and young and free.
It flew on wings of light and love,
Yet doesn’t have the gift to see.
I came across a mask today,
So beautiful and bold.
But who am I to say,
The lies that it has told.
I came across a mask today,
So wary and so cold.
The kindness marred by scars unhealed,
A pity to behold.
I came across a mask today,
So very cracked and old.
The life it’s led, the pain and dread,
Hid beneath its folds.
